LOST PET Nationwide, Pets that are lost and are not wearing tags are found 10% of the time. Keeping identification tags and microchipping are 2 small ways to increase the odds of you being reunited with your pet if they were to become lost. If your pet becomes lost follow these steps to help you recover them: If microchipped, call local shelters, veterinarians and animal control with the microchip number of your pet. Call ALL local veterinarians with a full description of your missing loved one. Include time, location and any unusual markings or collar/tags. BETTER: Make Full color posters with as much information as possible about your pet. Take them to local vets, grocery stores, pet stores & anywhere you can post a bulletin! GO to local shelters to visually look for your pet. Sometimes the shelter can be very busy with stray animals coming in. This may make it difficult for the staff to know exactly who has just come through the doors. Use as many tools as you can in order to locate your pet. This includes the internet, phone calls, looking for them, word of mouth, posters etc., FOUND PET If you have found a wandering pet, call local veterinarians and shelters to give a description. Take the pet to a veterinarian and ask they scan the animal for a microchip. If the animal has a rabies tag on it's collar-call the veterinarian's office on the tag.
