Boarding

Here at the Abingdon Veterinary Clinic, we go out of our way to accommodate your pets' needs when staying with us. Our indoor kennels are stainless steel for the best sanitary conditions and our outdoor runs give your dogs a chance to stretch their legs. We do not groom, but we do bathe dogs at the end of their stay if requested. Our kennel staff enjoys playing with and loving all our guests.

All of our boarders that have not stayed with us before are required to come in prior to their stay for a temperament test.  This ensures that your pet is comfortable with the kennel staff handling him or her while you are away. It is more convenient if you bring them in a few days before the reservation in case they are not able to stay.  We reserve the right to refuse any boarder.

Our Rates & Weight Classes

1-35 pounds            $12.75 per night

36-70 pounds           $13.75 per night

71 pounds and over   $15.75 per night

Cats                        $10.00 per night

Boarding Requirements:

All pets that stay with us must be up to date on all vaccinations:

Dogs - distemper, bordetella, rabies, heartworm, fecal float (stool)

Cats - distemper, rabies, fecal float (stool)*

Feeding

We feed a bland diet called Purina EN that helps with stress diarrhea and sensitive stomachs.

If you are bringing your pet's food with them, please make sure that you portion it out for each feeding and for each day.  This will help ensure that your pet will get the same amount you feed at home and to assist in lowering stress.

        Schedule

Dogs are let out into the double-enclosed, open-air runs periodically throughout the day. If good weather permits, they are left outside to enjoy the breeze. Cats are let out, one at a time, to roam the spacious cat ward during the cleaning of their kennels.

    Kennel Staff
Our kennel staff is trained to give medications to pets that need it.
They are also aware of warning signs if a pet does not feel well and
are instructed to inform a doctor or nurse.

  We Don't Bathe Cats!

*Proof of vaccinations must be shown at time of drop-off or earlier.  We reserve the right to administer vaccinations at the owner's expense to any animal dropped off for boarding with insufficient vaccinations.

We will also treat any internal/external parasites at the owner's expense. We ask that no toys or possessions are left with your pet during their stay.  \
